Time to Love

A two-part ballet evening about closeness, longing and the radical power of love.

Two choreographic styles, two perspectives, one theme: Time to Love is dedicated to love in all its depth, tenderness and contradictions. Between intimacy and distance, reflection and ecstasy, Lucia Giarratana and Ilya Vidrin explore what it means to love - with the body, with memory, with all the vulnerability of being human.

In Omnia Vincit Amor by Lucia Giarratana, love becomes tangible as an elemental force that transforms us and takes us to our limits. In three interlocking chapters - Love and Death, Love and Reason, Love and Passion - a dance-like network of touch, gazes and inner movement is created. The focus is on the body as a storehouse of emotional experiences - open, raw, touchable.

In With or Without, Ilya Vidrin approaches love through spaces in between - through what is not said but felt. Chamber music arrangements of works by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and texts by Rilke, Kolmar and Schiller form the resonance chamber for a ballet that oscillates between silence and expression, memory and the present.

Time to Love is an invitation to embrace love - not as a romantic tale, but as a human adventure full of beauty, pain and hope.
