Timm Thaler oder Das verkaufte Lachen

In the organizer's words:

We want to celebrate! Not only the move of the Junges Schauspiel to Central, but also the 100th birthday of children's author James Krüss. To mark the occasion, the Junges Schauspiel is bringing Krüss' most famous children's novel to the stage: "Timm Thaler".

Timm has something unique: a laugh that is so infectious and heartfelt that it touches everyone. And although Timm has had to endure many a stroke of fate in his childhood, he has always retained his cheerful laugh. The mysterious and enterprising Baron Lefuet is fascinated by this very laughter. He engages Timm in conversation during a visit to the racecourse and offers him a trade: Timm is to be given the ability to win any bet - and thus be in a position to pocket large sums of money. In return, Timm is to give Baron Lefuet his laughter. Timm thinks of all the nice things he could buy with the winnings and accepts the offer. He signs a binding contract, which also obliges him to keep the agreement confidential. Otherwise he would lose his ability to win bets - but without getting his laugh back. But Timm soon realizes that all the wealth is worth nothing if you can no longer laugh from the bottom of your heart. He sets off in search of Baron Lefuet to get his laughter back. A long journey begins: from Hamburg to Genoa by ship and finally, in the Baron's private plane, to the world's major cities. Where will the journey end? See for yourself!

With rousing songs - written by Eva Jantschitsch, composed by Imre Lichtenberger Bozoki - Robert Gerloff stages "Timm Thaler" as a musical spectacle for the inauguration of the new venue of the Junges Schauspiel im Central.
