Rethinking school - from petition to movement

Workshop with Amelie N.

The education system is in crisis: too much pressure to perform, too little co-determination and growing injustice. Many students feel at the mercy of the system. Amelie N. wanted to change this and implemented the "Campaign against exes in schools". With success!

In this workshop at the Tollwood Winter Festival, the student shows how frustration can turn into movement. It all started with a petition against unannounced tests in Bavaria. This grew into a campaign that attracted nationwide attention: over 50,000 signatures, media attention, a word of power from the Bavarian Minister President and the abolition of unannounced tests in Rhineland-Palatinate. With campaigns and a large demonstration, Amelie and her team made it clear that pupils have a voice.

The workshop focuses on two questions:

• What is going wrong in the current school system - and where are there already new approaches?
• How does an idea become real change?

Amelie takes the participants on her journey: from the first petition to organizing a movement to demonstrations and actions. The interactive part is all about your own ideas:

• How can we change schools?
• How do we organize ourselves?
• What steps lead to success?

This workshop is aimed at anyone who is convinced that Education must be more than grades and pressure.
