Tradition, music and enjoyment: the big Torfhafenfest 2026 in Findorff

On Saturday, April 25, 2026, it will be maritime again in Findorff! The Torfhafenfest is a highlight in the city's calendar of events and will take place this year from 3 pm to 8 pm. Organized by the Findorff Businessmen's Association, the festival combines history, music, culinary delights and family fun right on the water.

Highlight: entering the Findorf peat harbor with a harbor festival

Every three years, an old tradition is revived: The peat barge fleet of the Kulturland Teufelsmoor raises its distinctive brown sails and sets off on a historic journey from Worpswede to Bremen. The Armada sets off early in the morning and follows the old shipping routes that once connected the barren moor with the prosperous Hanseatic city. The Armada's destination is the traditional peat harbor in Findorff. At around 5 p.m., the impressive fleet is expected by numerous people. The entry will be led by Bremen's mayor Dr. Andreas Bovenschulte at the head of the first barge.

Peat barge rides, music and culinary delights - an unforgettable experience for the whole family!

"After a three-year break, it is particularly nice to welcome the Torfkahnarmada back to Findorf's peat harbor. This festival stands for tradition and a lively neighborhood - many people have been waiting a long time for this," enthuses Marcella Dammrat-Tiefensee, the first chairwoman of the Findorf Businessmen's Association, who opens the festival with a speech at 3 pm. Bremen Vier presenter Roland Kanwicher charmingly guides the audience through the musical program on stage and accompanies them through the afternoon and evening by the water. Jonny Glut will provide the melodious prelude, bringing seafaring tales and wanderlust to the Torfhafen with his accordion. The Neustädter Shantychor will set the mood with traditional sea shanties. After the Mayor of Bremen's speech, Jonny Glut returns to the stage with his trio and invites you to stay, sway along, dance and bring the festive day to an atmospheric close with maritime sounds.

Experiences on the water and on land

Those who prefer to stay on dry land can indulge their passion for handicrafts by assembling peat barge models on the meadow at the peat barge landing stage. And moorland bowling, as it used to be played on the Teufelsmoor, is great fun for the whole family!

Harbor delights for every taste

And to feast on, there are moorland farmer cakes, moorland beer and the typical regional drink "Jan Torf" - an aromatic herbal aquavit that embodies the spirit of the peat farmers and the Teufelsmoor. Classic harbor favorites such as bratwurst and fried fish provide hearty culinary delights, complemented by vegan alternatives. And what could be nicer than sitting right by the water and enjoying cool drinks and a relaxed atmosphere in the Port Piet beer garden?

Atmosphere, encounters & neighborhood feeling

The Torfhafenfest is more than just a festival: it combines tradition and modernity, neighborhood and enjoyment, music and movement. With this event, the Findorffer Geschäftsleute e. V. association sets an example for lively district culture and invites people from Findorff and beyond to Torfhafenplatz. Organizer Ramona Suresh puts it in a nutshell: "The Torfhafenfest is a symbol for all of us of how lively and diverse our district is - we are delighted to revive this tradition."
