TORTOISE „Touch"-Tour 2026

The legendary genre pioneers from Chicago and co-founders of post-rock are back after almost ten years with a new album and a European tour.

For over three decades, the instrumental band Tortoise has been considered one of the most influential formations of our time. Emerging from the Chicago underground, the quintet combined jazz, dub, krautrock, minimal, psychedelia and post-punk - so innovative that the music press invented the term "post-rock" for it. Albums such as "Millions Now Living Will Never Die", "TNT" and "Standards" became classics and made the band internationally famous.

Now Dan Bitney, John Herndon, Doug McCombs, John McEntire and Jeff Parker are continuing their musical journey as a turtle: "Touch", their eighth studio album and first since 2016, will be released by state-of-the-art label International Anthem and Nonesuch. "Aerodynamically reworked krautrock, hand-twisted techno rave-ups and pointillist Italo-western fanfares - they are all imbued with Tortoise's now characteristic inner logic: equally enticing and confusing, a puzzle to be enjoyed rather than solved," says the label's press release.

After sold-out UK shows at the Barbican Centre, the "live wonder" (Rolling Stone) returns to Europe in 2026 with unbridled enthusiasm.
