WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The last hours of the great love between the singer Floria Tosca and the painter Mario Cavaradossi: they cannot escape the maelstrom of power and violence. All their attempts to escape the system of the unscrupulous police chief Scarpia fail. The power of Puccini's opera lies in the effective portrayal of extreme emotions, love, jealousy and persecution.

Puccini's setting thrives on the sharply delineated characters, whose outbursts contrast with lyrical moments of calm. Director Andreas Kriegenburg concentrates on their private story, on the archetypal relationship triangle, freeing the characters from the usual role clichés: they could be people of today who are broken by the arbitrariness of a police state. Expressive images and precisely drawn portraits of the three protagonists turn his production into a study of abuse of power and resistance.

COMPENSATIONS

Pupils and students receive tickets in advance with a 50% discount. They can also obtain unsold remaining tickets at the Box Office shortly before the start of the performance at 15 euros per ticket for all seats, provided there is no other demand.

Trainees, the unemployed, Frankfurt Pass holders and participants in the Federal Volunteer Service also receive tickets at a 50% discount - even in advance.
