Trans-X was founded in 1981 by Pascal Languirand in Montreal, Canada. The group's first EP, "Living on Video", sold millions of copies worldwide between 1984 and 1986. The title track reached the top 10 of the international music charts.

According to EuroDanceHits (June 2006), "Living on Video" became the most successful and influential Hi-NRG/Electro song of all time and the most covered 12-inch single in history. Cool sailors - that's Lars "Hubert Kühl" Tischler from Hamburg. And on stage Hubert Kühl on the microphone and Marc "Marc Trose" Tönjes on the knobs. The name Kühle Matrosen refers to "Blaue Matrosen" by "Der Moderne Man" from their 1982 album Unmodern on No Fun Records. The name Hubert K(ühl) is a short bow to ... really now? Yes. Many years of darkness led via rap, electro and techno to the decisive experience in 2018: a live performance by Andreas Dorau in the Hamburg record store "Hanseplatte". This was followed by the DAF band biography and once plucking Timo Blunck's bass at a Palais Schaumburg concert at Kampnagel. New goal: Make me the DIY sound of your own school band from 1981, or 1982, Plastiktanz. The result was the first three tracks by Kühle Matrosen: "Bräutigam", "Gold" and "Theoretisch Magnetisch". In the summer of 2020, Lars sent the best twelve tracks to Jörg Steinmeyer from Kernkrach / Hertz-Schrittmacher. Anyone who releases Captain Berlin and Hoffnung und Psyche also needs the Kühlen Matrosen.

The collaboration began and the debut was released in December 2020: "Kühle Matrosen - 1982 km/HH". Hamburg halt. km for pretty fast. And for the Kühlen Matrosen. In March 2024, the Kühlen Matrosen passed the maturity test with their new album "TANZNEUEZEIT" on Hertz-Schrittmacher - even without Natassja Kinski. The release took place at the Kernkrach Festival in Bielefeld. First performance, second album - a cut to be proud of. Listening too. The second album is less of a tribute to the dust of the old days. There are more danceable beats up front. The sound is thicker. But here, too, every second bar rings of the 80s - and that's a good thing. There's a lot to hear. 2025 got bigger. 2026 even bigger: Paris, London, Turin. "The trick is to get as much out of it as possible with as little effort as possible. Minimum for the maximum. Of course, that sounds easier than it is. But when it is, it also sounds simple. DIE VERSION is a Hamburg band project founded in 2022, consisting of Haiko Herden (synths, vocals) and Ralf Franken (bass). The music is an unusual mixture that could be described as synth postpunk. German lyrics, electronic rhythms, synths between mini and maximum are carried by driving bass playing.

Haiko plays in bands and projects such as ANTI TRUST, THE EVASION ON STAKE, CHARLES LINDBERGH N.E.V. and his electronica project named after him. Ralf played in the punk band PINK TRAUMA in the 90s and then had his own project.

The first album was released on cassette. The new album will be released via a label in the first half of 2026.
