SPECIAL PROGRAM: ABOUT BEING ON THE MOVE

With analytical acuity, Transport: Cargo unfolds a systemic conflict. A truck driver is under massive time pressure from his employer, while the obstacles on the road come to a head. A night-time encounter and a shattering event in the morning lead to an existential catastrophe.

But behind the personal story, a larger structure becomes visible: global freight traffic is growing rapidly, millions of trucks are on the road and the transportation sector contributes significantly to global CO² emissions. The production uses individual fate as a metaphor for a system that shapes our everyday lives - and poses urgent questions about responsibility, justice and the ecological and social costs of our consumption. Founded in 1974, the Maribor Puppet Theatre produces innovative puppet theater that is regularly invited to international festivals.
