Trauer, Wut und die Kraft kollektiver Visionen

In the organizer's words:

Navigating crises and upheavals

This empowerment workshop creates a space to feel together: What are these times doing to us mentally, emotionally and physically? What do we need in order to not only function, but to remain capable of action and alive?

Registration is requested at: lila.ucar@zakk.de

The world is unraveling. Right-wing violence is on the rise, wars and genocides are being normalized, the climate crisis is worsening, and the social sector is being cut to the bone. And in the midst of all this, we are trying to live our everyday lives, with the constant confrontation with this violence leaving its mark: in our minds, in our bodies, in our relationships. Many of us vacillate between anger, sadness, exhaustion and the feeling that we are not doing enough.

This empowerment workshop creates a space to feel together: What do these times do to us, mentally, emotionally, physically? Which survival strategies sustain us, which exhaust us? What do we need in order to not only function, but to remain capable of action and alive?

In the first part, we work with reflection and collective exchange to understand and name the effects of permanent states of crisis on ourselves. We will talk about excessive demands, powerlessness, dissociation and exhaustion as comprehensible reactions to current conditions.
In the second part, we look to the future: in a collective vision board process, we develop images, words and visions for what sustains us and what we want for a different future.
The workshop combines perspectives from feminist theory, community care and radical imagination with concrete tools for everyday life in times of crisis.

For whom:

For all people who are looking for a space to talk honestly about the gravity of these times, and to find out together what it takes to carry on despite them. Whether politically active or simply exhausted.

Workshop leader:

Tarah-Tanita Truderung (she/her) is an Afro-German educator, social worker, social scientist and educational consultant. In her work, she is mainly concerned with racism in (high) schools, racism-critical social work, empowerment, anti-discrimination, decolonial knowledge reproduction, critique of power and domination, Black / intersectional feminism and transformative leadership.
