The Philara Collection is delighted to present TRÄUME, TRICHTER & TRICKSEREIEN, a comprehensive solo exhibition by Anton Henning. On display are works from four decades with a focus on Henning's painterly oeuvre.
Anton Henning questions painting with his own means. As if through a funnel whose narrow opening is directed at the viewer, he transfers images into the present through his own gaze. In doing so, he draws on design and art history as well as pop culture and everyday life: references to Polke, Palermo, Courbet, Picasso and Bacon meet doodles, cows and lamps.
Parallel to the exhibition, the artist is making generous donations to German, Belgian and Dutch museums, including the Düsseldorfer Kunstpalast.
