TRAVEL SLAM - in einer guten Stunde um die Welt

In the organizer's words:

At the Travel Slam, three adventurers compete for the audience's favor. Interesting experiences and the ability to present experiences in an entertaining way are required.
The personal experiences are conveyed in a photo-rich 15-minute presentation. One evening lasts approximately one and a half hours. The winners, chosen by the audience, receive the "Golden Travel Sceptre" and an attractive non-cash prize. The first-place winner also gets to talk about their trip for a further five minutes.

A presenter guides the audience through the evening and also asks questions (together with the audience).
However, the focus is not on winning - but on a community of like-minded people. The show is therefore also a kind of 'travel lounge' for those infected by the travel bug. The participants listen to each other, get to know each other, and of course this also applies to the exchange with the audience.

Andreas Dietrich from Dresden and Jörn Schlag from Allgäu walked diagonally across Germany in May 2025 - 1,703 kilometers in 21 days from Basel to Rügen. The run was characterized by small stages that added up to something big: "We experienced the route in moments and every single one brought us closer to the finish line". They were deeply touched by the support they received: from self-designed supply stands to loving welcome packages. In total, they were accompanied by more than 100 people. This interpersonal closeness and the feeling of being part of something bigger made this run so special for her.

Come to Beijing with Thomas Ferro: "I've been experiencing this city since 1998. It's family visits with my Chinese wife and I experience this metropolis from a completely different perspective. I'll show you the traditional and the modern. The rapid development of this city. During my annual visits, I am always amazed by these changes... I don't just know Beijing, I show you the cities and sights of China. And when it comes to China, food is a must."

What does it feel like when almost 700 million people come together in one place? What brings them there? Where do they sleep? What do they eat? Where do they put all the garbage? How is this even logistically possible? And how do millions of people move to and from this place every day? An attempt to answer these questions is this travelogue by Dennis Haefner about a spontaneous and crazy, magical and exhausting short adventure trip to the religious heart of India, to the biggest festival in human history - the Maha Kumbh Mela.

• Unless otherwise stated, the lectures will take place in the basement. There is only room for a limited number of guests in this unique setting, which is why we strongly recommend advance booking.
• Please note that admission is only possible via our main entrance (corner of Isartorplatz) until 20:10.
• The event area is barrier-free.
• We are happy to consider wheelchair spaces when allocating seats - please register in advance via shop-muenchen@globetrotter.de.
• There are toilets and disabled toilets on the event area floor.
• (Companion) dogs are welcome during the event, but must be registered.
• For a donation of € 2,- we provide various drinks for sale. The proceeds will go towards our annual sleeping bag fundraiser. Only limited change is available.

There are no shipping costs for online tickets - these are displayed for the time being, but will be removed in the shopping cart if you do not make any further purchases. Online sales end 2 days before the start of the event. If our events are sold out, we no longer offer a Box Office. Only cash payment is possible at the Box Office.
