Peter I. Tchaikovsky's music and Marius Petipa's wonderful choreography have made it the greatest ballet classic of all time: "Swan Lake" has been capturing the imagination of children and adults alike for over 100 years. As the "father" of classical ballet, Petipa created the dance version of Tchaikovsky's stage music for "Sleeping Beauty", "The Nutcracker" and finally for the work that became a myth and the epitome of all ballet art. Tchaikovsky made himself immortal with the melodies to his most famous stage work, while Petipa's sensual depiction of the flapping white birds became synonymous with elegance and grace.

At Christmas, the International Festival Ballet transports us to a soft white fairytale world in which Prince Siegfried has a difficult task to accomplish: Only if he proves the steadfastness of his love will the enchanted swan princess Odette be released from her spell.

This story can be experienced as an overwhelming production on the stage of the Prinzregententheater. There are actually 24 dancing swans, but this time the number is doubled to 48 - a choreographic masterpiece, beautiful to watch and an aesthetic feast for the eyes with its opulent imagery.

The ensemble relies on the visual appeal of a double cast of swans, magnificent images and the top-class dancing of the protagonists. A captivating experience for the whole family, all the more so when a storyteller introduces the story in the afternoon performances (3:30 pm).
