A poetry slam is the poetry competition of our time - lively, direct and full of emotion. Here, poetry becomes an experience and a platform for all those who dare to share their texts with the world. The audience is in the thick of it instead of just being there and decides the outcome of the evening with its applause.
Under the artistic direction of Munich SlamMaster Ko Bylanzky, the U20 Poetry Slam at Munich's Volkstheater has long since developed into a success story. Here, Munich's up-and-coming slam talents are in the spotlight: young people up to the age of 20 present their own texts - whether poems, stories or performances, whether serious, humorous, personal or socially critical.
Shouting, whispering, howling, wheezing, whistling, rapping - everything is allowed. The tools: language, voice and body. The competition quickly fades into the background, as respect, togetherness and a shared passion for words are more important.
Accompanied by Ko Bylanzky and a guest presenter, experienced slam stars provide additional energy on stage as special guests.
So: sharpen your pencils, get ready - it's going to be poetic!Register by e-mail to u20slam@muenchner-volkstheater.de
Workshops for U20 poetry slammers
Do you write lyrics or would you like to give it a try and are at least 14 and no older than 20? Do you like poetry slam or are you curious to get to know the literary stage format of today? Then you are no longer alone, because here is a group of young people who feel the same way.
After the great success of the last few seasons, the poetry slam workshops are entering their fourth season and will give young writing and stage enthusiasts a home on a total of 15 Tuesdays between 5.30 and 7 pm.
Artistic director Ko Bylanzky and the well-known poetry slammers Lotta Emilia and Philipp Potthast, who are responsible for running the workshops, will know the answers to your questions and show you how to develop your ideas into texts or get your text ready for the stage and then present it at the regular U20 Poetry Slam at the Volkstheater, for example. Of course, you can also just attend the workshop without performing, no one is pressured to do so, but everyone is helped in the continuous writing and/or performance process.
And it's completely free of charge! You can find the dates for the 25/26 season here and simply send your informal registration by e-mail to u20slam@muenchner-volkstheater.de!
