… und wir träumten vom Matriarchat

In the organizer's words:

"We are reclaiming the night" - like the witches on Walpurgis Night and the women's movement of the 1970s.

Back then, women demonstrated a powerful and self-confident appropriation of the night on April 30. They wanted to be able to move around at night peacefully and lustfully, without fear and without violence. But in 2026, the night is still often an inhospitable place.

But this year, on Walpurgis Night, the memories of the old struggles and dreams are awakened: through passages from the book "und wir träumten vom Matriarchat" and by singing along to the old women's songs by the Flying Lesbians, Patti Smith, Aretha Franklin and, of course, from the first women's long-playing record "Von heute an gibt's mein Programm".

A celebration of cohesion among women and female solidarity.
