The Hermann-Levi-Academy of the Bavarian State Orchestra promotes talented young musicians by giving them orchestral practice under professional conditions - especially in opera literature with its specific requirements, but also in the symphonic field.

The Hermann-Levi-Akademie was founded in 2002 under the name "Orchesterakademie des Bayerischen Staatsorchesters" in order to pass on the centuries-old tradition of one of the oldest German orchestras to young musicians and in this way keep the special sound and playing culture alive for future generations. Since July 2021, the orchestra academy has been called the "Hermann Levi Academy" to honor Hermann Levi's importance to music and in particular his pioneering work at the Nationaltheater München.
