The 1920s are often seen as a blueprint for the crisis phenomena of our time. The arts and literature of this period, on the other hand, experienced a golden age like never before. In a public conference, together with scholarship holders of the BAS - Bavarian Academy of Writing, we will explore the extent to which the 1920s are reflected in our own 20s.
Thomas Mann or Irmgard Keun, Marieluise Fleißer or Daniil Charms - the authors have chosen these and other names to subjectively test what of this incredibly lively reservoir of modernism is still suitable for their writing today and could be an inspiration for literary reactions to our time. Jens Bisky explores it with them on three panels, Karin Althaus from the Lenbachhaus shows paintings from the period. And after a break, we will make the texts dance and celebrate a revue with music and literature from the 1920s.
