The German Library Association (dbv) and the Deutsche Telekom Foundation have awarded Siegburg City Library the "Library of the Year in Small Municipalities and Regions 2025" prize.

To mark the award ceremony and the DAY OF LIBRARIES, Siegburg City Library is hosting a mini-festival from October 24 to October 26 under the slogan "There's a lot going on - celebrate your library with us!" to celebrate the award together with its visitors.

Skillful, pointed and entertaining: author Peter Jackob and detective Peter Metzdorf investigate.

Peter Jackob studied general and comparative literature and completed his doctorate with a thesis on shadows. In addition to his crime series about the Mainz old town detective Schack Bekker, the author, who was born in Mainz in 1965, also writes Sherlock Holmes novels. He is the winner of the Blue Carbuncle, an award from the German Sherlock Holmes Society. Peter Jackob has also published a Finnish thriller, poetry and short crime novels. After fifteen years in Florence, he now lives back in his home town. He is a member of the authors' groups "Dostoyevsky's Heirs" and "The Syndicate".

Former Chief Inspector Peter Metzdorf knows what real police work looks like from many years of experience. Together with the author, he enters into an exciting, illustrious and highly entertaining dialog.

Questions about writing crime novels and real police work will also be discussed and compared.

Guests can listen intently, puzzle along and ask what they have always wanted to know: Is the pavement in their home town dangerous? How high is the murder clearance rate? Are fictional crime stories realistic? And how does police work proceed in a real murder case?
