Time, memory and language are central themes of our present day. They permeate social debates, shape identity and influence the way we live together. The artists Paula Freitag and Sirma Kekeç deal with these levels in an individual and at the same time dialogical way. In their works, personal perspectives meet collective experiences, the past meets the present, language meets image. Both pursue a process-oriented working method: Their artistic works are created in slow, exploratory phases of development, often over a long period of time, borne by an examination of material, literature and visual forms. In this exhibition, her artistic positions come together for the first time in a joint project. The result is an exchange in which materiality, imagery and language interweave in a multi-layered way. Their collaboration is reflected in a rich variety of media and techniques, from textile and wall works to sound compositions, video, prints and collages, drawings and flag art.
