Vernissage – „First Gunshot of Chinese Feminist Art – Aufbruch einer feministischen Avantgarde“ von Xiao Lu

We cordially invite you to the vernissage of our new exhibition "First Gunshot of Chinese Feminist Art - Aufbruch einer feministischen Avantgarde" by the artist Xiao Lu! The opening will take place on Sunday, November 9, at 2 pm on the 2nd floor of the Frauenmuseum.

With two pistol shots in 1989, Xiao Lu not only broke through a pane of glass, but also the silence about female autonomy in Chinese art. Her work Dialogue became a symbol of resistance and marked the beginning of a new feminist movement in the avant-garde.

The exhibition at the Frauenmuseum Bonn shows the development of an artist who formed aradical manifesto from personal experience. Between powerlessness and awakening, vulnerability and anger, an impressive testimony to female self-assertion emerges.
