Vernissage, Silke Agena

In the organizer's words:

Silke Agena, who is exhibiting her paintings here in the Bürgerhaus for the second time, is an extremely talented autodidact from Arbergen, who has lived her love of painting since childhood and puts it into practice in her pictures. "I can't live without painting, it makes me nervous
nervous" is one of her statements when asked about her motivation for painting. Since she was a child, she has painted and drawn many things, painted them in watercolors or put them on paper as comics.
In 2007, she won the audience award at the Vegesacker Kunstherbst art festival, working mainly with pastels at the time. In 2008, after a visit to a gallery owner on the Darß on the Baltic Sea, she decided to take lessons in oil painting. In addition, she also gained extensive knowledge in the use of acrylic paints from a professional artist.
Even then it was clear to her that her focus would be on realistic, figurative painting. This was followed by annual exhibitions, publications in art magazines and a store gallery.
She also became a founding member of the artist group GE1, which was established in 2017 at a group exhibition by an association of artists operating nationwide. Finally, in 2019, she was able to teach oil painting at the "Aktiven Menschen in Bremen e.V." to pass on her knowledge to interested parties!

Silke Agena, who has familiarized herself with the challenging technique of oil painting without an art degree, but through her continuous self-study, says: "For me, painting is more than just a distraction or immersion in another world. First and foremost, it is a challenge that appeals. Every picture is a new process; if there isn't something special about a motif, I leave it and don't paint it. The motif has to touch me, then comes a process of
realization in my head, the color scheme, the composition, etc., and then I start." In fact, art is not just a luxury, it is as essential as our daily bread; for those who create art as well as for those who look at it. It
permeates our daily lives and gives them color, depth and meaning. Art has the unique ability to build bridges, connect us and send us on a journey of reflection and discovery. It is the expression of thoughts,
