Vernissage with couch talk between Monika Brunnmüller and Eugenia Kriwoscheja

Between abstraction and concreteness, humor and the macabre, the gentle and the harsh, Monika Brunnmüller creates a world of allusions and nuances. Organic structures form and suggest bodies. Since 2000, the artist has been exploring the human body through painting, objects and collages. Fascinated by its vulnerability and performance, she creates a pictorial world that traces it with differentiated and atmospheric colors. The imaginary look under the skin plays a central role. In her collages in particular, she takes a critical yet humorous approach to cultural and political aspects of the human body. In her more recent works, Brunnmüller expands her motifs to include other creatures, architecture and everyday objects.
