"Crazy Face", based on a short story by Marco Mandese, takes a performative approach to the fragility of the self-image and questions the construction of beauty, truth and individuality. The nameless main character gets caught up in a maelstrom of social expectations and increasing alienation from his own body. Reality and fiction become blurred as artificial identities are created, manipulated and ultimately called into question. While the characters search for the perfect self-portrayal, they lose their connection to reality and to other people. "Crazy Face" is a reflection on the limits of the self in the age of digital optimization.
