The film follows the young Uyghur Seneti and the Uyghur musicians in a village community in the heart of the Taklamakan Desert in Xinjiang over a period of six years. Seneti grows up to the rhythm of the village and adopts the musical culture of his generation. The film captures sounds and rituals in black and white and infrared images - including muqam, mägaity and harvest songs: music as a language between people and the earth.
