Volker Kutscher und Kat Menschik | WESTEND

Volker Kutscher, born in 1962, worked as a daily newspaper editor after studying German, philosophy and history before writing his first crime novel. He now lives as a freelance author in Cologne and Berlin. With "Der nasse Fisch" (2007), the start of his crime series about detective Gereon Rath in Berlin in the 1930s, he immediately became a bestseller, which was followed by nine more. The series is the template for the international television production Babylon Berlin, produced by Tom Tykwer.

Volker Kutscher has already written the bestsellers Moabit (2017) and Mitte (2021) for the Favorite Books series designed by Kat Menschik - books dedicated to the heroes of his famous crime series. After the book for Charly and the one for Fritze Thormann, the book Westend for Gereon Rath will be published in September 2025.

Kat Menschik is a freelance illustrator. Her Lieblingsbücher series is considered one of the most beautiful book series in the world. Many of the books she has illustrated have won awards. Most recently published: Das Haus verlassen, Junge aus West-Berlin and Lieblingsmärchen.
