Vom Wasserwerk zum Naturraum

With the decommissioning of the Kaltehofe waterworks in 1990, nature reclaimed the amphibious cultural landscape on the Elbe island of Kaltehofe. This guided tour introduces the flora and fauna of Kaltehofe and focuses on the eventful process of becoming a nature park and biotope. The tour runs through the listed ensemble, which today is also an important natural area. The path leads along wild herb meadows and reed beds, between the former filter basins and onto the birdwatching platform, where you can keep an eye out for water birds and nutrias.

The tour takes place in an open area and offers no protection from the weather of any kind. All participants should be dressed appropriately for the weather conditions.

Registration: No registration is required.

Meeting point: Please arrive at the "Altes Labor" information center (historic villa), Kaltehofe-Hauptdeich 6-7, 20539 Hamburg, approx. 15 minutes before the start of the tour.
