How do you live for over a year in Germany's southernmost workplace?
Michael Trautmann reports on a total of 70 weeks in the Antarctic. As an engineer at the Alfred Wegener Institute, he was responsible for the infrastructure of Neumayer Station III and experienced first-hand what it means to work and live in this hostile environment.
Weeks of darkness, extreme temperatures and the isolation of a small crew are part of the daily routine of wintering in the eternal ice. The lecture provides personal insights into life on a research station, technical challenges and special nature experiences at the end of the world.
This lecture is part of the GlobeTales Festival.
