Vortrag: KI und ethische Bedenken - Was sollen wir tun?

Lecture by Dr. Julia Maria Mönig followed by a discussion as part of the "AI explained" event series

AI in the search engine, AI assistants on the phone, AI in the arms industry, AI that discriminates. Daily headlines on AI development seem to outdo each other. While the AI regulation has been adopted at European level after years of discussion, new technological possibilities are already making themselves heard.

How can we use AI ethically and what can we do to capture concerns and integrate values into the technology? The lecture will discuss examples of ethical concerns in the use of AI as well as risks for individuals and the liberal-democratic constitutional state. At the same time, it will show what we can do as a society to work towards ethical technology design and a conscious use of technology.

Speaker: Julia Maria Mönig, head of the philosophical sub-project in the KI.NRW flagship project "Certified AI" at the University of Bonn.

Moderator: Christiane Schäfer, research associate at the Center for Science and Thought at the University of Bonn and scientific and administrative project manager of the international research project Desirable AI.
