What are the ideological foundations and historical developments of Islamism? How is its impact visible in Germany? The lecture will focus on the resistance of Kurdish movements against Islamist currents and the sometimes contradictory attitudes of the German left. Together we will discuss political concepts, international interdependencies and the significance of the topic for anti-authoritarian perspectives.

Dastan Jasim is a political scientist. Her work focuses on security policy and democratization, particularly in the Kurdish context and in the Middle East. Her research also focuses on Islamism and racism in a global context.
