During the dictatorship of National Socialism, violent attacks against Jewish citizens and their families took place in Germany on the night of November 9-10, 1938. In Bremerhaven and Wesermünde too, members of the Nazi paramilitary Sturmabteilung (SA) carried out unlawful acts of humiliation and abuse and set fire to residential and commercial buildings as well as the synagogue. The majority of the population tolerated the acts or even approved of them. However, a policeman on duty arrested the SA members for their crimes.
In his lecture, the lawyer and historian Dr. Ernst looks at the acts of the time in the light of the legal situation and the role of the police.
