Everything trembles, the walls shake. Vibrations, like earth tremors.

Cracks in the façade.

Growing up, the so-called puberty, is characterized by changes, challenges and expectations. "High as a kite - sad to death"; the emotional ups and downs of puberty are proverbial. New developments and connections in the brain lead to spontaneous ideas and impulses, emotional outbursts and reorientation. Existing character traits can develop further or completely new personalities can emerge.

In Wall/Flower, Dutch choreographer Anne Suurendonk explores the tensions between being introverted and extroverted with dancers from TANZ_KASSEL. Two seemingly opposing forces that serve as categorization variants of human behaviour. The dancers embody the conflict between the quiet attraction of self-reflection and the urge to connect with the world. A dance exploration of "blossoming" in a world that is constantly changing and requires constant transformation.

Anne Suurendonk studied dance at the Amsterdam School of Arts and then worked as a freelance choreographer. From 2020 to 2024 she was resident choreographer at Danstheater AYA, where she also worked for young audiences. Her work is about emotions and how to give form to the inner world. The focus is on her rhythmic, dynamic movement language, driven by electronic, contemporary music.
