We meet at the main train station in Halle and travel together to Teicha, where the actual tour starts. Once we have crossed the town, we will keep to the Götsche river and follow its lower course almost to the Saale. Gentle hills and paddocks accompany us. Then we head towards Franzigmark, an area of around 300 hectares that is under special protection due to its rare animal and plant species and diverse habitats (porphyry hilltops, dry grassland, wetland depressions) and is part of the "Unteres Saaletal" nature park. There we treat ourselves to the "Saaleblick" and enjoy the view of the Saale valley and the "Brachwitz Alps". Passing orchards and fields, we soon pass the next highlight, the "Morler Menhir", a chicken stone erected in prehistoric times. Then we pass the eponymous village of Morl, and from there up to the Markenberg, where we are accompanied by wonderful views of the surrounding countryside all the way back to Teicha. From there, we take the train back to Halle.

Hey, I'm Thomas, a certified hiking guide with the German Hiking Association and a passionate hiker. My heart beats for the wonderful landscapes of my home region. Whether Saale-Unstrut, (southern) Harz or the Lower Saale Valley. From Halle, it often takes less than an hour to reach breathtaking natural and cultural landscapes that are waiting to be discovered. My preference: quiet paths, ancient places of power, the most beautiful views. I would like to share my passion with you here and invite you to come with me - into the breathtaking, mysterious and beautiful nature on your doorstep. I look forward to seeing you there!
The tour runs almost directly outside the city gates and yet you feel transported to another world: The vastness of Franzigmark becomes a refuge.
