We meet at the main train station in Halle and travel together to Leißling, where the actual tour starts. From the train stop, it is only a few meters into the almost untouched nature. The Saale floodplain near Goseck is unique and is a nature reserve. Grey herons, storks and other birds have settled here and, with a bit of luck, we might spot them. Below the imposing sandstone cliffs, our tour takes us past a historically significant vineyard to the Siedichgrund, into a unique, ancient forest - at this time of year, we can enjoy the spring snowflake blossom there, an impressive natural spectacle! If you come to Goseck, you should not miss two other attractions. First, we pay a visit to the legendary solar observatory. The 7000-year-old circular ditch is part of the "Sky Paths" and shows us a lot about astronomical knowledge in the Neolithic Age. We then visit Goseck Castle, once a castle and Benedictine monastery - it lies high above the Saale valley and is an important stop on the Romanesque Route. From there, we make our way back over the Igelsberg, which once again offers breathtaking views of the Saale valley. The Leißling stop then marks the end of our circular tour, and from there we return to Halle together.
