WEICHE präsentiert weitere Meilensteine. Informationsveranstaltung zum genossenschaftlichen Wohnen im Lok-Viertel

WEICHE is the first residential project to be built in the Lok district in the immediate vicinity of Osnabrück's city center. The cooperative community project aims to combine social, sustainable and self-determined forms of living in the future. Following a kick-off event last May, a public information event for all interested parties will take place on August 21, 2025 at 5 p.m. in the INNOVATORIUM of the Coppenrath Innovation Center. Online participation is also possible.

During the event, those responsible will provide information on the current status of the communal living project. After a brief review of past events, the focus will be on important developments and next steps. Milestones include the decision to approve the development plan and the securing of the property. There will also be an update on the aspect of subsidized housing, architectural planning and the further timeline of the project. For the first time, interested parties will come together in the working groups to discuss the next planning steps in a timely manner.

The initiators of the cooperative project are GLS Bank, based in Bochum, which is providing significant financial support, KVL Projektentwicklung Plus GmbH from Berlin, which is responsible for project management and control, and the Münster-based architectural firm Thiel. Architect Christoph Thiel explains: "With the further information event, we want to inform all interested parties, including investing members, about the upcoming steps." And Benedikt Altrogge, Sector Coordinator Housing at GLS Bank, adds: "We want to enable people to get to know each other for the first time in the working groups, where cooperative members can get actively involved in the project in order to help shape their own life in WEICHE."

The WEICHE cooperative housing project aims to create sustainable and affordable living space. A total of around 70 residential units with different floor plans and sizes are to be built in the Lok district by mid-2028. A commercial space on the first floor will be available for community-oriented services or creative workspaces. The new building will be constructed using a timber system in order to create living space quickly and in a future-oriented manner. The components used are made from sustainable and durable materials such as wood and recyclable building materials, which ensure a healthy indoor climate and a low environmental impact.

In the run-up to the project update, interested parties will have the opportunity to talk directly to the cooperative team and ask questions. "For those who have already signed up to the list of interested parties after the kick-off event, there will be the opportunity to take part in individual table discussions from 4 p.m.," explains Luana Cortis, Managing Director of KVL Projektentwicklung Plus GmbH.
