With the kind support of www.unterwegs.biz we present the WELTENBUMMLER series. This time with Jasmin Böhm.
Alone with bicycle and child to the North Cape: Of breathtaking nature experiences, borderline experiences and outgrowing yourself
Courage does not mean never being afraid. Courage is when you don't let your fears stop you from pursuing your dreams. In recent years, Jasmin Böhm has already shown several times that she can do this: since 2021, the single mother has regularly been on shorter and longer adventure trips with her now six-year-old son, despite worries about the future. Her last bike trip not only took the two of them to the North Cape, but also confronted the author with her fears amidst harsh solitude and the forces of nature - and rewarded her with unforgettable experiences and encounters and lots of time with her son.
In "Hello fear, I'll do it now!" (published by Kailash Verlag from May 1, 2025), she tells how she overcomes her fears on her trip to the far north in harmony with nature, develops deep strength and finds herself. A book that encourages us to see life as an adventure and to use challenges as an opportunity for personal growth and a fulfilled life.
Jasmin and Emil are now an experienced travel duo. While Emil still sat in his child seat on the first bike tour, he now pedals along diligently and proudly rides long distances all by himself. He blossoms in nature: Wild camping, whale birthdays, meeting new friends and magical auroras are a real adventure for him. Jasmin, on the other hand, is confronted with fears in the loneliness of the north and the harsh natural environment and reaches her physical and mental limits. She is regularly faced with the question: Is what I'm doing here reckless? Am I even endangering my child? Or is it just old fears catching up with me? It is not always easy to weigh up which fears are sensible guides that we should listen to because they protect us and which worries actually have other origins and only make life unnecessarily difficult. But in the course of the journey, she not only gets closer and closer to the North Cape, but also to herself.
Jasmin Böhm has already proven that she can overcome difficult challenges: as a student, she moved into a hospice with her mother, who was suffering from cancer, to accompany her on her final journey, she freed herself from a pregnant relationship with domestic violence and, when she was trapped in a daily routine that did neither her nor her son any good, she quit her three jobs so that she could spend more quality time with her child. In her SPIEGEL bestseller "Hallo Glück, dich gibt's ja ja!" (Hello happiness, you do exist!), she tells a moving and empowering story about her life, her journey to Spain and the very practical challenges of having a toddler and a bicycle. In her new book "Hallo Angst, ich mach's doch jetzt!" (Hello fear, I'll do it now!), she takes us on another journey, this time into the breathtaking nature of the wild north and reflects on how she would like to live in the long term, how contact with other cultures shapes people, what motherhood and responsibility mean and how personal growth and needs-oriented parenting can also succeed when traveling.
