Few bands can claim that a metropolis like Chicago dedicates a day to them. Whitney, the duo from the "Windy City", has enjoyed this special honor since 2019. The two musicians Max Kakacek (guitar) and Julien Ehrlich (vocals and drums) share an exceptionally close friendship: for over ten years, they have not only shared a stage, but also an apartment - and have never managed to break up. Their paths first crossed in the indie pop band Smith Westerns. After their break-up, joint jam sessions soon led to a new project - and Whitney was born. With their debut album "Light Upon The Lake" (2016), they immediately won the hearts of the press and the public. Their unmistakable sound - carried by Ehrlich's wistful falsetto, delicate instrumentation and the palpable lightness of their friendship - combines folk, soul and Americana to create a warm soundscape that feels like an endless summer's day. This was followed in 2019 by "Forever Turned Around", an album about relationships, change and loneliness. Just one year later, Whitney presented "Candid", an album full of cover songs, before adopting a more pop-oriented sound with "SPARK" in 2022. While working on the latter, producer Brad Cook asked a crucial question: "Why do you still have a producer?"

The band couldn't let go of this thought: almost two years later, they had written enough new material and decided to take everything into their own hands. They recorded the songs live and produced them independently. The result is called "Small Talk", their new album to be released in November. Eleven intimate, honest tracks that testify to a newfound freedom and enthusiasm - and a friendship that can be felt in every note. This special closeness also characterizes Whitney's live performances, be it at major festivals such as Lollapalooza, Coachella or Newport Folk Festival - or at their own concerts. In February, the duo will be bringing their songs to Germany: four concerts with their new album in tow promise evenings full of warmth, intensity and that unmistakable Whitney feeling.
