Despite equal rights being enshrined in law, traditional role models and social norms still contribute to maintaining inequalities between the sexes. Misogynist movements and gender-specific violence also restrict the freedom to shape one's own life.
The second evening of the Dresden in Conversation about Freedom series is dedicated to the question of how girls* and women* experience freedom in their youth and adult life. Do female biographies tend to be characterized by a lack of freedom? What does it mean for personal freedom to care for others and bear responsibility? Do (family) ties make us unfree?
Keynote speech: Lina Chaker, Project Coordinator Women's Meeting Place, Ausländerrat Dresden e. V.; Yaëlle Dorison, Clown, Dresden
About the series "Dresden in conversation about freedom"
What is freedom and how important is it to you? Do you feel free today? And what about the freedom of others? After a keynote speech by experts from science and the media, you can discuss your personal experience of freedom with the other guests in moderated small groups. Together, we would like to discuss what this central idea of democracy means for our lives and our social coexistence.
