What happens when the power generator fails in the Antarctic? And what does the everyday life of a technician look like who ensures that scientific work is possible at all at minus 40 degrees? In his lecture, the speaker describes his time at Neumayer Station III, where technology and science are more interdependent than anywhere else. He gives the audience a glimpse behind the scenes - where snow groomers fight against the snow, snowmobiles secure the way to measuring stations and a functioning combined heat and power plant can make the difference between life and death. It's not just about technology, but also about cooperation, responsibility and the question: what would science be without those who work behind the scenes to make it possible?
