🗓️ November 28-30, 2025
📍 Bürgerbahnhof Plagwitz: Orchard & Hildegarten
✉️ Registration: hallo@hildegarten.org
This weekend is all about fruit trees: how they grow, what they need and how you can look after them so that they give you (and future generations) many years of pleasure.
We start on Friday evening, 28.11.2025, from 5.30 to 7.30 pm with an introduction to the basics in order to develop an understanding of the physiology and growth laws of fruit trees. With some theory under your belt, you will be well prepared for the practical part.
On Saturday, November 29, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., we will then head out into the Hildegarten and the orchard opposite. Together we will look at the trees, assess their condition, work out what they need at the moment and use scissors and saws here and there.
Sunday, November 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. is all about practice. Here you can consolidate what you have learned, develop a feel for proper care and gain confidence in handling your fruit trees.
💭 Important: Please bring paper + pencil for Friday; for Saturday and Sunday, please bring weather-appropriate clothing, sturdy shoes, gloves and, if available, rose shears and pruning saw. Self-catering during breaks, hot drinks and juice will be provided.
A joint event organized by the Hildegarten community garden and the Plagwitz orchard. The speakers are the fruit comrades Björn Burmeister and Aleksandra Chwolka. A cooperation of the Bürgerbahnhof Plagwitz for environmental education in urban neighborhoods.
The workshop is partly funded by subsidies, the rest is financed by donations.
