What if the cultural "powerhouse" E-WERK - exhausted by the hyper-consumption of art - were to collapse and artists could no longer continue their work? Would that be a utopia or a dystopia? What if, instead, the artist never died, but transformed into an unlimited source of energy?
In this speculative futures workshop, Nile Koetting and Carlo Lopa invite participants into a realm where, guided by professional futurology methods, we can explore how we can regenerate our environment through culture. Together we will enter a post-meltdown scenario and imagine how the building could be revived from its ruins - and how we could bring about possible futures not only through cultural practices, but also through approaches that go beyond culture.
Carlo Lopa is a futurologist and scientist. He currently lives and works in Manila.
