Wortklub: Nava Ebrahimi + Cornelius Pollmer "Schreiben = Verantwortung"

Nava Ebrahimi was born in Tehran and lives in Graz. She writes short stories, novels and this year she started writing a column in the Süddeutsche Zeitung. Cornelius Pollmer wrote for the newspaper for 14 years before moving to Die Zeit. Bachmann Prize winner Nava is publishing her stunning novel "Und Federn überall." this fall. Born in Dresden, Cornelius has made reporting on his home country the subject of his journalistic work and the content of his book"Heut ist irgendwie ein komischer Tag". Everything you read and hear from the two is characterized by curiosity and friendliness, love for people and the certainty that we have to treat each other well in order to lead a good life.

The music comes from the musician Gilda Razani, also born in Tehran, who, in the duo Amaryllis with her partner Hanzō Wanning, stands for a unique crossover music project.

Wortklub program 2025

Five evenings with great guests, great live music and a witty presenter at domicil in Hansastrasse.

Launched seven years ago by initiator and host Thomas Koch, the Wortklub has since become an institution that attracts attention far beyond Dortmund. This year, the traditional jazz club in Hansastrasse will once again host guests whose publications and comments on current affairs are a topic of conversation throughout Germany. And so you can look forward with anticipation to:

• Bachmann Prize winner Nava Ebrahimi, who will meet Zeit journalist Cornelius Pollmer at the Wortklub.
• The Dresden writer Ingo Schulze, who will be a guest in November together with the former Dortmund Member of Parliament Marco Bülow.
• And to the opening event in September, which will feature the creative jack-of-all-trades Charlotte Brandi and Fritz Schaefer.

"I am particularly pleased that we will once again be able to hold two events this year where we can talk intensively about the protection of democracy, tolerance and human rights," says Koch, referring to Signal Iduna, whose support will bring people to Dortmund in December who have made it the core of their work to oppose right-wing and inhuman ideology:

In my entire professional life as a freelancer, I've almost always been able to try something out: Doing radio shows, writing scripts, interviewing people, writing books and working with others to get even better at what I can do. That was and is great luck!

Sorry Generation Y, but the 1980s and 1990s were golden times for guys like me, who were able to generate concrete income from rather diffuse talents and didn't even realize it for a long time because they had so much fun doing it.

The fact that I've now ended up at domicil with the Wortklub fits in perfectly with my professional aspirations. I wanted to try it out and they let me do it. How lucky that the people at domicil were just as curious as I was and that Roman Wulf from the FSR agency had fun with the idea and, of course, that the Wortklub is financially supported by the City of Dortmund's cultural office and the Signal Iduna Group.

That's the only reason I'm allowed to invite people who really interest me and who I can get to know in public on the domicil stage.

There is probably no better place for this than the stage of a jazz club, which is a special, even magical place in many respects. People from all corners of the world have come and continue to come together here and they have reached an agreement: You can try anything here. There is maximum trust in the people you share the stage with. There is maximum freedom here and, in the best case scenario, you get the maximum reward for what you do with others on this stage: precious moments of surprise and happiness.

In this respect, we've come to the right place.
