In search of radical movement, the piece dives beneath the earth's surface into the world of roots. There, the mysterious life of a root spirit unfolds...

Radical comes from radix - Latin for root - and literally means root-like. Deeply anchored in the ground and growing from the ground up. The power of large tree roots even breaks up asphalt and concrete - an impressive image for the revolutionary potential of radicality! The dance piece WURZELN / ROOTS deals with the contradictions of radical movement and the nature of roots with their connective and destructive power. The piece dives beneath the surface of the earth and encounters a creature somewhere between human, animal and plant: a root spirit that struggles with its own contradictions, sometimes in a serious, sometimes in a humorous way. In a dim, mysterious setting, amidst strands of roots, dancer Veronika Heisig embodies the power that unfolds out of caution and tenderness: An uncompromising steadfastness and softness becomes an energetic explosive force in the course of the piece.
