Zeyn'el - voice from Anatolia

Zeyn'el, born in Istanbul, is a singer-songwriter, musician, sound engineer and philosopher at heart. Even as a child, he was influenced by Anatolian folk songs ("Aşık / Ozan" tradition), which later led him to harmonize music, lyrics and thoughts. Always alert and hopeful.

He has mastered the banjo, ukulele, guitar and his own version of the Merlin dulcimer; he has developed his style in such a way that he harmoniously combines Western folk instruments with Anatolian traditions. Zeyn'el draws inspiration not only from his homeland, but also from experiences and melodies from Central Asia, the Middle East and the Americas.

"The deep lessons I learned as a child through folk songs inspired me," he says, "and I discovered that themes of justice, truth and compassion resonate equally across many cultures." Zeyn'el uses his music as a space of remembrance and awareness. Preserving the old, daring the new.

His songs are encouraging: a mix of old songs and his own compositions, carried by words with ethos and melodies that touch both the heart and the mind. Those who experience Zeyn'el are led into a world of sound in which tradition and zeitgeist meet, and in which hope and humanity become instruments.
