Watch the adventurous, exciting, thrilling and dramatic story of a ... fumbling man. Martin (Werner Enke) delights the world with pseudo-philosophical sayings and lives for the day. He collects potatoes and stones in the shape of friends' and acquaintances' heads, models himself on "Balzac's father", who is said to have lain in bed for 20 years, and asks the girl he hooked up with in the swimming pool if she can "feed" him before he invites her into his own bed. "It's going to end badly..." is his motto, but then his encounter with Barbara (Uschi Glas) turns his life upside down. To the point, Schätzchen was a surprise hit at the box office and is considered the most successful film of the Schwabing film scene and the Neue Münchner Gruppe. It was an affront to the self-righteous post-war society and economic miracle ideology, to the sex wave and to Munich's complacent film and pop scene. At the age of 26, May Spils was the first German female director of the post-war generation to present audiences with a comedy that cheekily captured the zeitgeist and has lost none of its freshness to this day.

Playful portrait of a young woman. This portrait by HfG alumnus David Loscher retains only one aspect of Thomas Heise's dogmatic design: the 16mm material - filmed and then developed in a bucket. Otherwise, Loscher sticks to his own rules. Echoes of the protagonists of the Godards and Truffauts and a rejection of the documentary format. This is a portrait, not a documentary.

We are delighted that David Loscher will be our guest and briefly introduce his film. He even has the original 16mm print with him!
