The future is a paradoxical place: Depending on our decisions, it is freely available to us on the one hand - on the other hand, it is subject to a wide variety of transformation requirements in view of the multiple crises of the present. From climate change and the defense of democracy to the reassessment of the intergenerational contract, the future appears to be less about freedom than about the pressure to change and adapt. In conversation with Prof. Dr. Armin Nassehi (Critique of the Grand Gesture, 2024), we therefore want to ask: How (un)free is tomorrow? What constraints are our future actions subject to? And how can we shape the future?
