Alte Utting

The excursion steamer MS Utting was built in 1950 and has been part of the Bavarian lake fleet ever since. Throughout the years, she carried vast numbers of passengers across the Ammersee. Parties were held on board, one or the other band played on deck and of course she did one thing wonderfully: give her guests a nice trip on the lake. After more than 65 years, the historic traditional ship retired at the end of 2016 and was originally scheduled to be scrapped in early 2017.

Wannda e.V. got wind of this and was determined to save the ship from being scrapped. So quite quickly the idea was born to bring the ship ashore in the city and develop it into an art and culture project.

Today (almost 5 years later) the Alte Utting has become a popular meeting place in the neighborhood, spot for the perfect sundowner and cabaret stage for up-and-coming talents of the city.
