The Cargo-Theater Freiburg is a theater collective that has been in existence since 1992 and realizes theater projects in German- and French-speaking countries in various constellations and collaborations with various artists. In addition to the areas of children's and youth theater and the evening program, the group has been working for many years in the field of interculture and cultural education.

"Cargo" stands for movement. We are interested in a constantly reorganizing concept of theater and a constantly transforming society. We use various forms of expression in our productions: Playing with objects, body(s) and material, expectations, boundaries, the audience, space and time. We see theater as a place where artists from different art forms meet and inspire each other. The starting point for our productions are not pre-written drama texts, but rather an idea, a topic that is close to our hearts and burns under our nails as theater makers.

Cargo Theater is a member of the ASSITEJ of the Federal Republic of Germany, the B.O. Kinder- und Jungentheater Ba-Wü and the Landesverband Freier Tanz- und Theaterschaffender Ba-Wü.
