Filmtheater Schauburg Karlsruhe

The Schauburg is an arthouse cinema in the southern part of Karlsruhe. It opened in 1929 on the premises of the former Apollo variety theater. Today, after further renovations, the Schauburg has three auditoriums with 352, 150 and 61 seats. The large auditorium (Cinerama) has a curved 17 × 7 meter Cinerama screen and is one of the few cinemas in which films are shown using Todd AO technology.

The cinema focuses on current films, the 70mm wide-screen format, repertory cinema, film series (some with introductions, seminars and accompanying programs), as well as live events and broadcasts. Guests can enjoy sophisticated, historically relevant and entertaining productions, often in the original language with or without German subtitles.

The screenings take place in a deliberately traditional and stylish ambience that is strongly reminiscent of the movie palaces of the 1960s.
