Hessian home cooking since 1799
Here, on the Schlossplatz in Höchst, time sometimes seems to have stood still. Anyone entering through the old customs gate immediately senses the history surrounding the town houses built between the 16th and 18th centuries, the remains of the Mainz customs castle and the Renaissance palace.
"You wouldn't expect such a beautiful old town in Höchst," say guests who stop off at the "Zum Bären" restaurant after visiting the porcelain manufactory, the Old Palace or Justinus Church.
The classics such as hand cheese, green sauce and ribs or, depending on the season, fresh salad that has been cut that very morning by the farmer, are just as much a part of the menu as wild boar leg, elk steak or suckling pig in the winter months. There is also a "Culinary Calendar" from October to March, which treats our guests to delicious culinary delights during the cold season.
