Behind the Grieb, situated in one of the most picturesque alleyways in Old Regensburg, lies the Gravenreuther restaurant. The first owners of this mighty patrician castle can be assumed to be the Grub family. An Ulrich de Gruba is mentioned as early as 1156, and in 1327 a Johannes von der Grub appears in a document. In 1381, the Konrad Gravenreuther family appears in the chronicles as the owners. Classicism has covered the centuries-old walls of the house with a fine façade decoration. Bust reliefs in leaf hangings and flower garlands lend the front of the house an almost festive appearance. Grafenreuther rear view The Gravenreuther restaurant is also a museum for long-dead Regensburg originals. There have always been funny people who make you wonder or laugh. But the tranquil 19th century was particularly rich in such idiosyncratic characters. In our house you can find the originals as carved console figures under all the ceiling beams!
