The GREEN SCREEN International Nature Film Festival is the most popular festival for nature documentaries in Europe. Every year, thousands of nature-loving film fans watch films from all over the world at GREEN SCREEN.

The festival has been held annually in Eckernförde on the Baltic Sea since 2007. GREEN SCREEN offers a wide range of outstanding documentaries that showcase the beauty of nature and address controversial issues relating to nature conservation, climate change and species extinction.

The core of the festival is the international GREEN SCREEN competition for the BEST NATURE FILMS of the year, where prizes are awarded in 16 competition categories. Hundreds of submitted productions are judged annually by a nomination and an award jury.

GREEN SCREEN has also developed into an important meeting place for the nature film industry in Germany since its inception. In addition to the screenings, there are professional workshops, seminars and panel discussions as well as rooms for meetings and screenings and an attractive supporting program.

GREEN SCREEN is convinced that the preservation of species in an intact environment can only succeed if people of all ages are aware of the beauty of nature and are sensitized to its growing endangerment. The festival is a member of the "Green Film Network". This association of environmental film festivals promotes worldwide exchange between currently 39 film festivals from 33 countries.
